Peter Alexander: Resins

Peter Alexander é provavelmente uma das nossas maiores referências. Nascido em Los Angeles em 1939, o cara uniu sua formação em arquitettura (que inclui a Universidade da Pensilvânia e a AA) com sua paixão pelo surf, e em 1965 começou a criar sua série de esculturas de resina. Desde então, Peter Alexander se tornou um importante artista contemporâneo, integrante do movimento californinano “Light and Space” e inspiração pra muita gente.

Peter Alexander is probably one of our biggest references. Born in Los Angeles in 1939, he gathered his architectural background (which include University of Pennsylvania and the Architectural Association) and his passion for surfing, and in 1965 he created his first series of “Resins”. Alexander became an important contemporary artist, being part of the californian art movement “Light and Space” and is a font of inspiration for many people.

“In 1965 is about the time I’ve started making the Resins. I was in my mid twenties and still surfing. And, the idea to use the resin came from glossing surfboards(…) And i did it for maybe four or five years and enjoyed every minute of it. Except the smell.”
