Hans Memling (1430 – 1494) was a german painter who moved to Flanders and integrated the Flemish Primitives alongside names like Jan Van Eyck and Dirck Bouts. His main themes are religious, where he portrays scenes like the apocalypse and the final judgment. The German historian Erwin Panofsky said that Memling “occasionally enchants, never offends, and never overwhelms.” Now the question that begs is: what kind of drugs was this guy taking?
